Explain the use of the verb forms in the following:

1. My brother works in London and always has done.

2. My daughter is living in the centre of town just now, but she is looking for a flat in the suburbs.

3.When we arrived, Peter didn't come to the door because he was having a bath.

4. When he got home, he had a bath.

5. When Peter got to the office, he was was humming to himself happily, but he stopped the moment his boss opened the door.

6. It usually rains when we go away on holiday.

7. I am going to Oxford on a study visit next week.

8. The train gets to Liverpool at 13.42.

9. Jimmy is always combing his hair.

10. Jimmy always combs his hair before going out.

11. They said that the University was building a new wing to the main building.

12. In the summer, children build sandcastles and let the tide sweep them away.

13. Was it a good party last night? Yes, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

14. I had to leave early, but when I left everyone seemed to be having a good time.

15. I should like this report to be waiting for Professor Brown when he arrives.

16. Professor Brown told me that he had not read the report yet.

17. My brother has been living in London for the past 15 years.
