When the First World War (1) out in Europe, MacArthur was posted back to America. He was now Major MacArthur, and (2) the age of thirty six he was given the job of forming a new division, to be called the Rainbow Division. When the USA (3) the war in nineteen seventeen, Colonel MacArthur found himself (4) the Rainbow Division in France when the Commanding Officer became ill. He won many medals for his bravery and skill as a soldier. It was during this time that he also (7) known for his theatrical way of dress and behaviour. He started to behave like an actor (8) stage.
