The following are some priority items that we would like to
emphasize because they are often overlooked by second language writers.
So, good academic writing:
- is impersonal: It is not full of your own opinions - or at least if it is, then you

- is tentative rather than assertive in tone. Make cautious and careful

- has an organizational framework which is clear and easy to navigate
- is written in reasoned and cohesive paragraphs. Paragraphs usually signal new content and they have some kind
of unity.
- has an argument because the writer has a point of view and an awareness of what
other people have written on the same topic
- contains evidence to support opinions
