Translation

English / Chinese translation is provided in a number of ways in VLC documents and exercises.

Google
Many VLC texts are "Active Dictionary " pages and use the "point-&-click dictionary" function that dynamically links any word in the text to the Net Dictionary dictionary, which provides some Chinese translations as well as explanations and examples in English. Many words are also individually linked to the dictionary. The example below shows a word linked from a vocabulary exercise.

The VLC also provides a useful approach for studying translation via the Parallel Text Viewer together with the Parallel Concordancer. The viewer features texts in parallel English and Chinese versions with bookmarks for sentence by sentence translation, as the following illustration shows.

The parallel concordances can also be dispayed as shown in the following example.
