ClozeMaker with TTS Support for SAPI 5

ClozeMaker Text-to-Speech Narrator can open and edit text and RTF files and allows the TTS Narrator to read the whole or selected text. You can create and run tests in a variety of ways, also with TTS support, and ClozeMaker has direct links to the VLC Net Dictionary. It has browser capability for reading web pages, and the Narrator Read from Clipboard function allows ClozeMaker to work in partnership with other programs such as MS Word where text can be copied directly into the clipboard.

To use the TTS Narrator, first open a file - in this case, the Lewis Carroll poem "Jabberwocky" has been selected.  To read the whole text, either select from the TTS Narrator Menu or click the button  in the top toolbar.

In the TTS Narrator Dialog the word selected is the word being spoken, making it easy to follow what is being read.

Figure 2: The Top Toolbar

The Top Toolbar has 19 buttons, the first 9 of which (from left to right) are standard Windows buttons which provide for quick navigation and access to the various File and Edit Menu functions.  The next ten of these buttons are for various ClozeMaker functions, and these functions are listed below (again going from left to right):

  • Create a Cloze Test
  • Create StoryBoard Test
  • Net Dictionary lookup
  • VLC Home Page
  • Speak all the page
  • Speak selected text only
  • Speak from the clipboard
  • Stop speaking
  • Open the Recorder Dialog Window
  • Show the Using ClozeMaker Help File
