In 1588, the Spanish sent a great navy, (1) as the "Armada", to attack England. There were 130 ships in the Armada, with a (2) of 30,693 people aboard, including 19,000 soldiers to invade England. The English had 197 ships to fight the Armada, and Francis Drake, England's most (3) and popular sailor and national hero, was (4) the Vice-Admiral in charge of the expedition aboard the ship "Revenge".
