Text-to-Speech Dialog Wizard Samples

The TTS Wizard will create a conversation dialog using a template similar to that used in the VLC English Conversation pages. You can have up to 10 conversational moves with different voices, and the HTML file generated can be saved and used on your PC or website.

These samples demonstrate the type of dialogs that can be created. You can listen to the original dialog created with WAVE files, or the RealAudio version created from these.

  with original WAVE files RealAudio
1 Deep Thought & the Meaning of Life
2 Hamlet and the ghost
3 For Anne Gregory
4 Going to lunch

Saving the wave files

How you save the wave files depends on your system behaviour - for instance, if your browser is using the Windows Media Player you can right-click the player image to save each file. But if you have plugins like RealPlayer installed you may not be able to do this.

The best way to get the wave files is to locate them in the cache Windows Temporary Internet Files directory where they are copied to your computer when the page is downloaded. You can use the unique file ID listed at the bottom of the HTML page to find them. You will have to change the file names to remove the "(1)" which is appended to the original document name when it is cached.

Alternatively, you can download the files from the TTS server where they can be listed by typing the URL http://www.edict.com.hk/tts/wavefiles into your browser.
