Cube3D Screensaver

logo2-1.gif (2586 bytes)

This is a Windows screensaver which features a revolving cube with a texture-mapped bitmap. The original source code for the cube transformations and texture mapping was written by Jeremy Spiller and published in Dr Dobbs Journal. It was first implemented by my friend Ulf Eriksson as an MSDOS application. I have done it as a screensaver for Windows, and tested it on Windows 98 / NT / 2000. You can select any bitmap of your choice for the texture map.
  • It is best if the bitmap is 256 pixels wide and 200 high, but any other sized bitmap will do, as the program will resize it to fit that dimension.
  • The bitmap should have 256 colors.
The Cube3D Screen Saver

The Cube3D screensaver is contained in a WinZip file, and includes sample bitmap and midi files.

  • Download and extract the files onto your PC.
  • The screensaver program has the .SCR extension, and should be copied into your Windows directory
  • To install follow the Windows screensaver installation procedure from the Control Panel (Display).

!! Before you can run the screensaver you need to set the bitmap and midi files in the screensaver Configuration Window (click the Settings button in the Display Setup dialog).
