English Conversation

The English Conversation program is similar to the Internet Explorer which it is based on and has the same basic operation but with customized menus and toolbars for running the VLC English Conversation Practice from your own PC.  As well as all the English Conversation files, the exercises from the VLC Spoken English section are included.

• Download Conversation Browser WinZip file for running all files from your PC (9 megabytes)
• Zip files require the WinZip32 utility to extract the files. Choose "Save File to Disk".and "Install"

System requirements

You need the Windows Media Player version 9++ installed on your PC, and also the Real Audio Player.  

English Conversation also provides recording and playback functions for the student, as well as integrating the Net Dictionary lookup feature as in other VLC programs.

The "karaoke" effect

As you can see from the illustration above, the conversation text is printed on the screen in sync with the sound and in a diferent color when spoken, like in a karaoke song.  You need to have the Windows Media player version 9++ installed to get this effect. All the conversations are displayed in this way.

Why use the desktop version?

The advantage of using this program is that it runs the VLC English Conversation files and exercises directly from your desktop without any internet connection. The program can then be easily used at any time either for study or reference purposes.

When you install English Conversation it will:

• 1. Copy all the files onto your hard disk so you can run the program and follow the course without internet connection
• 2. When used with internet connection it connects to the edict web server for Net Dictionary searches
